Abstract

  • In September 2023, of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 73 cities experienced inflation and 17 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 1.41 percent and the lowest inflation at 0.02 percent occurred in Balikpapan. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari at 1.70 percent and the lowest deflation of 0.03 percent occurred in Denpasar.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province, which is a combination of 2 CPI cities, namely Samarinda and Balikpapan, in September 2023 experienced inflation of 0.12 percent, with calendar-year inflation of 2.49 percent and year-on-year inflation of 3.07 percent.
  • In September 2023, inflation rate in Samarinda City was 0.19 percent and in Balikpapan City was 0.02 percent.
  • In general, the combined 2 CPI cities in Kalimantan Timur experienced inflation due to an increase in the price index in 7 expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.32 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.21 percent; the supplies, equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.17 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0,15 percent;  the personal care and other services group by 0.04 percent; the transportation group by 0.03 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.03 percent. On the other hand, a group experienced a decrease in the price index, namely the health group by 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, the food and beverage/restaurant provision group; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group; and the education group tend to be stable in September 2023.
