Abstract

Kalimantan Timur Province, which is a combination of 2 CPI cities, namely Samarinda and Balikpapan, in December 2023 experienced inflation of 0.39 percent, with calendar-year inflation and year-on-year inflation of 3.46 percent.
In December 2023, inflation rate in Samarinda City was 0.41 percent and in Balikpapan City was 0.39 percent.
In general, the combined 2 CPI cities in Kalimantan Timur experienced inflation due to an increase in the price index in 7 (seven) expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.11 percent; the personal care and other services group by 0.92 percent; the transportation group by 0.31 percent; the health group by 0.13 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.11 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.07 percent; and the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.02 percent. On the other hand, a group experienced a decrease in the price index, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.27 percent; the supplies, equipment and routine household maintenance group by 0.18 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the education group tend to be stable in December 2023.
