Abstract

  • In July 2023, out of 90 cities under national CPI monitoring, 77 cities experienced inflation and 13 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari at 1.43 percent, and the lowest inflation at 0.01 percent occurred in Bulukumba. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Tual of 0.50 percent and the lowest deflation of 0.01 percent occurred in Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province, which is a combination of 2 CPI Cities, namely Samarinda and Balikpapan, in July 2023 experienced inflation of 0.43 percent, with calendar year inflation of 2.38 percent and year-on-year inflation of 3.56 percent.
  • In July 2023 there was inflation in Samarinda of 0.34 percent and in Balikpapan there was inflation of 0.53 percent.
  • In general, combined inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by increases in several price indices for the expenditure group, namely: the transportation group by 1.25 percent; then the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.83 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.15 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.13 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.12 percent; as well as the health group and the recreation, sports and culture group each by 0.11 percent. On the other hand, the group that experienced a decrease in the price index was the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by -0.05 percent and the personal care and other services group by -0.44 percent. Meanwhile, the education and information, communication and financial services groups tend to stabilize in July 2023.
