Abstract

The number of labor force in Bontang Municipality in August 2023 was 94,923 people, down 4,227 people compared to August 2022. In line with the decline in the number of labor force, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) decreased by 3.73 percentage points to 68.35 percent.

The open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bontang Municipality in August 2023 was 7.74 percent, down 0.07 percentage points compared to August 2022.

The working population in Bontang Municipality is 87,575 people, a decrease of 3,833 people from August 2022. The 3 categories of employment that experienced the largest increase in the number of workers were the Agricultural Sector (144 people). Meanwhile, employment that experienced the largest decline was the Services Sector (2.24 thousand people).

A total of 60,327 people (68.89% percent) worked in formal activities, an increase of 3.97 percentage points compared to August 2022.
