Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in June 2023 was recorded at US$1.95 billion, or decreased by 13.08 percent compared to the export value in May 2023. When compared to June 2022, the export value fell by 46.93%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in June 2023 were recorded at US$1.85 billion, a decrease of 5.89 percent compared to May 2023.
  • Cumulatively, the oil and gas export value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January-June 2023 reached US$1.26 billion, an increase of 0.97 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, the non-oil and gas export value reached US$13.29 billion.
  • The largest decrease in the value of non-oil and gas exports in June 2023 compared to May 2023 occurred in the mineral fuel goods category which decreased by US$151.61 million (9.00 percent), while the largest increase in value occurred in the fat and oil goods group of US$79.06 million (45.40 percent).
  • By sector, during the January-June 2023 period, Kalimantan Timur Province's non-oil and gas exports fell by 9.00 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The decline was contributed by a decrease in exports of mining products by 7.02 percent, and exports of industrial products by 22.89 percent. percent.
  • The destination country with the largest non-oil and gas export value in June 2023 was to China with a value of US$476.47 million, followed by the Philippines with US$254.31 million and Taiwan with US$189.42 million, with the contribution of the three of them reaching 49.71 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$566.50 million and US$72.49 million respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur Province's largest exports in June 2023 came from the Port of Balikpapan with a value of US$553.45 million, followed by the Port of Samarinda with US$529.30 million, and the Port of Tanjung Bara with US$343.61 million.
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in June 2023 was recorded at US$375.11 million, or decreased by 28.62 percent compared to the import value in May 2023. When compared to the import value in June 2022, it experienced a decrease of 33.91 percent.
  • The June 2023 oil and gas import value was US$256.77 million, or decreased by 35.12 percent compared to the May 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the June 2022 import value it decreased by 35.57 percent.
  • The June 2023 non-oil and gas import value was US$118.34 million, or decreased by 8.79 percent compared to the May 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the June 2022 import value it experienced a decrease of 29.99 percent.
  • In June 2023, the largest percentage decrease in imports of non-oil and gas goods was in the optical instrument category, which experienced a decrease of 55.06 percent. On the other hand, the highest percentage increase in imports of non-oil and gas goods occurred in the category of fertilizer goods, which increased by 222.31 percent.
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imported goods during January–June 2023 were China at US$149.28 (19.82 percent), the United States at US$91.90 million (12.20 percent), and South Korea at US$73.12 million. (9.71 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$117.51 million (15.60 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$153.03 million (20.32 percent).
  • According to the category of goods used, the import value from January to June 2023 compared to the same period in the previous year, there was an increase in the import value of raw/auxiliary materials by 21.64 percent, consumption goods increased by 40.21 percent, while capital goods decreased by 16. 30 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province's trade balance in June 2023 experienced a surplus of US$1.58 billion. The non-oil and gas sector had a surplus of US$1.73 billion, while the oil and gas sector had a deficit of US$156.22 million.
