Abstract

  • Kalimantan Timur's export value in January 2023 was recorded at US$2.45 billion, down 19.76 percent compared to December 2022 exports. Compared to January 2022, the export value increased by 126.56%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in January 2023 were recorded at US$2.18 billion, down 16.98 percent compared to December 2022.
  • In terms of value, the largest decline in non-oil and gas exports in January 2023 compared to December 2022 occurred in the mineral fuel goods category, which fell US$446.69 million (19.49 percent), while the biggest increase occurred in the fats and oil goods category which increased US$40.66 million. (17.72 percent).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports in January 2023 decreased compared to December 2022. Mining products fell 19.49 percent, industrial products fell 0.56 percent and what experienced an increase occurred in exports of agricultural products which increased by 534.18 percent.
  • The destination country with the largest non-oil and gas export value in January 2022 was to China with a value of US$729.36 million, followed by Japan with US$290.10 million and India with US$194.79 million, with the contribution of the three of them reaching 55.62 percent. Meanwhile exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$442.50 million and US$48.56 million respectively.
  • According to the port of origin of goods, Kalimantan Timur's largest exports in January 2023 came from Samarinda Port with a value of US$677.82 million (27.68 percent), followed by Balikpapan Port with US$588.00 million (24.01 percent) and Bontang Port with US$394.81 million (16.12 percent).
  • Kalimantan Timur's import value in January 2023 was recorded at US$446.64 million, down 24.35 percent compared to December 2022's import value, and when compared to January 2022 it experienced an increase of 121.96 percent.
  • January 2023 oil and gas imports were valued at US$305.68 million, down 31.26 percent compared to December 2022 import values, whereas when compared to January 2022 import values, they experienced an increase of 364.17 percent
  • January 2023 non-oil and gas imports were valued at US$140.96 million, down 3.30 percent compared to December 2022 import values, while when compared to January 2022 import values, they experienced an increase of 4.13 percent.
  • The largest decline in the value of imports of non-oil and gas goods in January 2023 compared to December 2022 was in the fertilizer goods category, which fell US$14.41 million. On the other hand, the biggest increase in import value was in the category of machinery and mechanical equipment which increased by US$6.85 million.
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imports during January 2023 were China US$36.50 million (25.89 percent), Malaysia US$14.88 million (10.56 percent), and South Korea US$13.17 million (9.34 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$28.91 million (20.51 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$25.49 million (18.08 percent).
  • Kalimantan Timur's January 2023 trade balance experienced a surplus of US$2.00 billion. The non-oil and gas sector had a surplus of US$2.04 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, the deficit was US$39.55 million.
