Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in July 2023 was recorded at US$1.76 billion, or decreased by 9.85 percent compared to the export value in June 2023. When compared to July 2022, the export value fell by 51.09%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in July 2023 were recorded at US$1.61 billion, or decreased by 12.83 percent compared to the 2023 union.
  • Cumulatively, the oil and gas export value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January-July 2023 reached US$1.40 billion, a decrease of 2.39 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, the non-oil and gas export value reached US$14.91 billion.
  • The biggest decrease in the value of non-oil and gas exports in July 2023 compared to June 2023 occurred in the mineral fuel goods category, which fell by US$211.23 million (13.80 percent), while the biggest increase in value occurred in the category of various chemical products, which amounted to US$5.54 million. (47.59 percent).
  • By sector, during the January-July 2023 period Kalimantan Timur Province's non-oil and gas exports fell by 17.86 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The decline was contributed by a decrease in exports of mining products by 16.01 percent, and exports of industrial products by 26.72 percent. percent.
  • The destination country with the largest non-oil and gas export value in July 2023 was to China with a value of US$469.84 million, followed by India with US$208.00 million and Taiwan with US$203.37 million, with the contribution of the three of them reaching 54.64 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$304.51 million and US$35.88 million, respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur Province's largest exports in July 2023 came from Samarinda Port with a value of US$578.97 million, followed by Balikpapan Port with US$548.67 million, and Tanjung Bara Port with US$326.31 million.
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in July 2023 was recorded at US$457.02 million, an increase of 19.65 percent compared to the import value in June 2023. When compared to the July 2022 import value, it experienced a decrease of 38.76 percent.
  • The July 2023 oil and gas import value was US$328.83 million, an increase of 28.06 percent compared to the June 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the July 2022 import value it decreased by 43.40 percent.
  • The July 2023 non-oil and gas import value was US$128.20 million, an increase of 2.39 percent compared to the June 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the July 2022 import value it decreased by 22.44 percent.
  • In July 2023, the largest percentage increase in imports of non-oil and gas goods was in the category of electrical machinery and equipment which experienced an increase of 70.35 percent. On the other hand, the largest percentage decrease in imports of non-oil and gas goods occurred in the optical instrument category, which fell by 54.02 percent.
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imported goods during January-July 2023 were China at US$196.93 (22.18 percent), the United States at US$113.08 million (12.73 percent), and South Korea at US$80.50 million. (9.06 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$141.46 million (15.93 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$172.74 million (19.45 percent).
  • According to the category of goods used, the import value from January to July 2023 compared to the same period in the previous year, there was an increase in the import value of raw/auxiliary materials by 4.65 percent, consumption goods increased by 58.24 percent, while capital goods decreased by 10. 66 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province's trade balance in July 2023 experienced a surplus of US$1.30 billion. The non-oil and gas sector had a surplus of US$1.48 billion, while the oil and gas sector had a deficit of US$183.02 million.
