The Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in October 2024 was 1.75 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Berau Regency at 3.54 percent.

Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in October 2024 was 1.75 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.52. The highest inflation occurred in Berau Regency at 3.54 percent with a CPI of 107.32, while the lowest occurred in Penajam Paser Utara Regency at 0.85 percent with a CPI of 105.86.

Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 3.08 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 2.41 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.52 percent; Health Group of 5.32 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.35 percent; Education Group of 1.71 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 1.90 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 5.92 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decline in the index, namely: Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 0.03 percent; Transport Group of 0.99 percent; and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group of 0.50 percent.

On a month-to-month (m-to-m) basis, there was a decrease in the price index (deflation) in October 2024 by 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, on a year-to-date (y-to-d) basis, there was an inflation of 1.08 percent in October 2024.
