Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in July 2024 was recorded at US$2,024.20 million, a decrease of 7.80 compared to June 2024.
  • Oil and gas exports in July 2024 were recorded at US$181.70 million, a decrease of 5.22 percent compared to June 2024. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports were recorded at US$1,842.50 million, a decrease of 8.05 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of East Kalimantan Province during January-July 2024 was recorded at US$14,180.64 million, a decrease of 14.92 percent compared to the same period in 2023.   
  • By class of goods, the largest increase in the value of non-oil and gas exports in July 2024 against June 2024 occurred in the iron and steel goods group which increased by US$14.28 million (121.95 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in export value occurred in the mineral fuel goods group of US$135.12 million (8.26 percent). 
  • China is the main export destination country that has the largest role with an export value of US$4,364.25 million (34.11 percent), followed by India with a value of US$2,197.10 million (17.17 percent), and the Philippines at US$1,125.22 million (8.80 percent).
  • In the January-July 2024 period, mining commodities remained the mainstay of Kalimantan Timur Province's exports with a role of 73.44 percent. Industrial products are in second place with a role of 16.61 percent, and the value of oil and gas exports is in third place with a role of 9.78 percent. 
  • The three ports that contributed the most to the total export value of East Kalimantan Province in July 2024 were Samarinda Port (US$535.47 million), Balikpapan Port (US$515.92 million), and Bonthan Bay Port (US$288.53 million).
  • The import value of East Kalimantan Province in July 2024 was recorded at US$362.98 million, a decrease of 9.54 percent compared to the import value in June 2024.
  • The value of oil and gas imports was recorded at US$236.41 million, a decrease of 16.69 percent compared to the value of imports in June 2024. In contrast, the value of non-oil and gas imports in July 2024 was recorded at US$ 126.57 million, an increase of 7.74 percent. 
  • The largest increase in the value of non-oil and gas imports occurred in the machinery and mechanical equipment goods group and its parts which increased by US$24.47 million (49.18 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in value occurred in the group of goods of various chemical products amounting to US8.97 million (55.68 percent).
  • In terms of its role in total non-oil and gas imports in the January-July 2024 period, the largest contribution of the country of origin of goods was dominated by China at US $ 231.03 million with a role of 30.49 percent, followed by the United States at US $ 119.47 million with a role of 15.77 percent, and Japan at US $ 60.42 million with a role of 7.97 percent.
  • According to the use of goods, in July 2024 the consumer goods group experienced the deepest decline of 75.47 percent when compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the raw / auxiliary goods group experienced a decrease of 13.54 percent. Conversely, the capital goods group experienced an increase of 56.31 percent.
  • The trade balance of East Kalimantan Province in July 2024 experienced a surplus of US $ 1,661.22 million. The non-oil and gas sector trade balance recorded a surplus of US$1,715.93 million, while the oil and gas sector recorded a deficit of US$54.71 million.
