Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in May 2024 was recorded at US$1,919.94 million, down 9.14 percent compared to April 2024.
  • Oil and gas exports in May 2024 were recorded at US$259.24 million, an increase of 78.23 percent compared to April 2024. In contrast, non-oil and gas exports were recorded at US$1,660.70 million, a decrease of 15.59 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of  Kalimantan Timur Province during January-May 2024 was recorded at US$9,960.99 million, a decrease of 20.96 percent compared to the same period in 2023. 
  • By class of goods, the largest increase in the value of non-oil and gas exports in May 2024 against April 2024 occurred in the fertilizer class of goods which increased by US$28.47 million (149.45 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in export value occurred in the mineral fuel goods group amounting to US$201.85 million (12.37 percent). 
  • In the January-May 2024 period, China was the main export destination country with the largest role with an export value of US$2,880.96 million (32.20 percent), followed by India with a value of US$1,642.30 million (18.36 percent), and the Philippines with US$796.29 million (8.90 percent).
  • In the January-May 2024 period, mining commodities remained the mainstay of  Kalimantan Timur Province's exports with a role of 73.07 percent. Industrial products are in second place with a role of 16.57 percent, and the value of oil and gas exports is in third place with a role of 10.18 percent.   
  • The three ports that contributed the most to the total export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in May 2024 were Samarinda Port (US$536.59 million), Balikpapan Port (US$408.89 million), and Tanjung Bara Port (US$285.34 million).
  • The import value of  Kalimantan Timur Province in May 2024 was recorded at US$365.88 million, an increase of 6.51 percent compared to the import value in April 2024.
  • The value of non-oil and gas imports was recorded at US$114.26 million, an increase of 26.70 percent compared to the value of imports in April 2024. In contrast, the value of oil and gas imports in May 2024 was recorded at US$251.62 million, a decrease of 0.68 percent. 
  • The largest increase in the value of non-oil and gas imports occurred in the machinery and mechanical equipment goods group and its parts which increased by US$22.72 million (66.05 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in value occurred in the group of goods of ships, boats, and floating structures amounting to US4.34 million (63.92 percent).
  • In terms of its role in total non-oil and gas imports in the January-May 2024 period, the largest contribution of the country of origin of goods was dominated by China at US $ 149.00 million with a role of 29.01 percent, followed by the United States at US $ 78.44 million with a role of 15.27 percent, and Japan at US $ 46.95 million with a role of 9.14 percent.
