Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur in August 2022 reached US$3.71 billion, up 3.12 percent compared to exports in July 2022. Compared to August 2021, the export value increased by 51.73%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in August 2022 reached US$3.29 billion, down 3.18 percent compared to July 2022.
  • Cumulatively, the value of Kalimantan Timur's oil and gas exports from January to August 2022 reached US$1.85 billion, an increase of 188.32 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports reached US$21.44 million, an increase of 65.56 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas exports from August 2022 to July 2022 occurred in the category of animal or vegetable fats/oils, which increased by US$129.78 million (42.44 percent), while the largest decline occurred in the mineral fuel category, which fell by US$184. 59 million (6.45 percent).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports of mining products from January to August 2022 rose by 77.04 percent and exports of industrial products increased by 27.62 percent compared to the same period last year.
  • The largest non-oil and gas export in August 2022 was to China at US$755.04 million, followed by India at US$465.59 million and Japan at US$426.86 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 50.00 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$659.42 million and US$75.72 million, respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur's largest export in January–August 2022 came from the Samarinda Port with a value of US$6.15 billion (26.42 percent), followed by the Balikpapan Port at US$5.14 billion (22.05 percent) and the Port of Balikpapan. Tanjung Bara US$4.13 billion (17.72 percent)
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur in August 2022 reached US$428.79 million, a decrease of 42.54 percent compared to the value of imports in July 2022, while compared to the value of imports in August 2021, it increased by 37.60 percent.
  • Oil and gas imports in August 2022 were worth US$244.31 million, down 57.95 percent compared to the import value in July 2022, while when compared to the import value in August 2021, there was an increase of 71.24 percent.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in August 2022 were worth US$184.47 million, an increase of 11.61 percent compared to the value of imports in July 2022, while compared to the value of imports in August 2021, there was an increase of 9.19 percent.
  • The largest increase in the import value of non-oil and gas goods in August 2022 when compared to the value of imports in July 2022 was in the category of machinery and mechanical equipment, which increased by US$8.56 million. On the other hand, the largest decline in value was in the fertilizer category, which decreased by US$6.64 million.
  • The three largest suppliers of imported non-oil and gas goods during January–August 2022 are South Korea US$180.20 million (15.80 percent), the United States US$162.04 million (14.20 percent), and China US$155.47 million ( 13.63 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$96.93 million (8.50 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$225.61 million (19.78 percent).
  • According to the category of use of goods, the value of imports from January to August 2022 against the same period the previous year saw an increase in raw/auxiliary materials by US$1,652.79 million (121.91 percent), consumption goods increased by US$2.05 million (19.12 percent) but capital goods fell by US$112.69 million (21.82 percent).
  • Kalimantan Timur's trade balance in August 2022 experienced a surplus of US$3.28 billion. The non-oil and gas sector had a surplus of US$3.11 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, the surplus was US$168.20 million.
