Abstract

  • In April 2022, of the 90 municipalities monitored by the national CPI, all municipalities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 2.58 percent and the lowest at 0.22 percent occurred in Gunung Sitoli.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Samarinda and Balikpapan) in April 2022 there was inflation of 1.17 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 2.42 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 3.90 percent.
  • In April 2022, Samarinda municipality's inflation rate was 1.05 percent and Balikpapan municipality's inflation was 1.33 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: transportation group by 1.95 percent; followed by food, beverage, and tobacco groups by 1.72 percent; personal care and other services group by 1.49 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 1.44 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.72 percent; the health group and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.27 percent each; then the food and beverage/restaurant supply group with inflation of 0.11 percent; the education group by 0.03 percent and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the group that experienced a decrease in the index in April was the clothing and footwear group by -0.49 percent.
