Abstract

  • The increase in NTP is due the index of prices received by farmers (It)), which increased by 1.79 percent, while the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) only increased by 1.38 percent.
  • In April 2024, the NTP for each subsector is as follows: Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Food Crops (NTPP) is 104.88; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Horticulture Crops (NTPH) is 118.21; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Smallholders Estate Crops (NTPR) is 184.39; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Animal Husbandry (NTPT) is 104.95; and Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Fishery (NTNP) is 99.29.
  • In April 2024, there were two subsectors that experienced an increase in NTP: the smallholders estate crops subsector (1.56 percent) and the animal husbandry subsector (1.10 percent). On the other hand, three subsector experienced a decline: the food crops subsector (-1.93 percent), the horticulture subsector (-0.83 percent), and the fisheries subsector (-1.25 percent).
  • Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) in April 2024 was 143.55 or an increase of 1.64 percent compared to the NTUP in March 2024 which was recorded at 141.23. There were four subsectors that experienced an increase in NTUP: the horticulture subsector (0.85 percent), smallholders estate crops subsector (2.71 percent), the animal husbandry subsector (1.85 percent), and the fisheries subsector (0.02 percent). On the other hand, one subsector experienced a decrease in NTUP: the food crops subsector (-0.50 percent).
