Abstract

  • The increase in NTP is due the index of prices received by farmers (It)), which increased by 1.12 percent, while the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) only increased by 0.74 percent.
  • In December 2023, the NTP for each subsector is as follows: Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Food Crops (NTPP) is 101.97; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Horticulture Crops (NTPH) is 117.46; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Smallholders Estate Crops (NTPR) is 168.14; Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Animal Husbandry (NTPT) is 105.84; and Farmers’ Terms of Trade for Fishery (NTNP) is 99.49.
  • In December 2023, there are three subsectors that experienced an increase in NTP: the food crops subsector (0.35 percent), the horticulture subsector (2.76 percent), and the smallholders estate crops subsector (0.39 percent). On the other hand, two other subsectors experienced a decrease: the animal husbandry subsector (-1.29 percent) and the fisheries subsector (-0.02 percent).
  • Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) in December 2023 is 132.90, an increase of 0.96 percent compared to NTUP in November 2023, which was recorded at 131.63. There are four subsectors that experienced an increase in NTUP: the food crops subsector (0.83 percent), the horticulture subsector (3.43 percent), the smallholders estate crops subsector (1.07 percent), and the fisheries subsector (0.41 percent). On the other hand, other subsectors experienced a decrease: the animal husbandry subsector (-0.81 percent).
