Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur in June 2022 reached US$3.68 billion, an increase of 29.03 percent compared to exports in May 2022. Compared to June 2021, the export value increased by 124.23%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in June 2022 reached US$3.38 billion, up 27.21 percent compared to May 2022.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of Kalimantan Timur from January to June 2022 reached US$15.99 billion, an increase of 78.51 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports reached US$14.74 million, an increase of 71.71 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas exports in June 2022 compared to May 2022 occurred in animal or vegetable fats/oils, which increased by US$395.41 million (1,326.82 percent), while the largest decline occurred in various chemical products, which fell US$22.56 million (49. 10 percent).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports of mining products from January to June 2022 rose 82.53 percent compared to the same period in 2021, exports of industrial products rose 35.65 percent, while exports of agricultural products fell 65.58 percent.
  • The largest non-oil and gas export in June 2022 was to India at US$730.80 million, followed by China at US$594.40 million and the Philippines at US$431.07 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 51.93 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$901.07 million and US$55.03 million, respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur's largest exports in January–June 2022 came from the Samarinda Port with a value of US$4.29 billion (26.85 percent), followed by the Balikpapan Port at US$3.51 billion (21.94 percent) and the Tanjung Port. Coal amounted to US$ 2.76 billion (17.24 percent)
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur in June 2022 reached US$567.84 million, up 159.65 percent compared to the import value in May 2022 or an increase of 22.40 percent compared to the import value in June 2021.
  • Oil and gas imports in June 2022 were valued at US$398.53 million, up 34.50 percent compared to the import value in May 2022 or up 49.08 percent compared to the import value in June 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in June 2022 were valued at US$169.31 million, an increase of 31.22 percent compared to the value of imports in May 2022. A decrease of 13.88 percent compared to the value of imports in June 2021.
  • The largest increase in imports of non-oil and gas goods in June 2022 compared to the value of imports in May 2022 was in the category of ships, boats, and floating structures worth US$40.12 million, whereas in May, Kalimantan Timur did not import these goods. On the other hand, the largest decline was in the category of machinery and electrical equipment and parts thereof, which decreased by US$5.99 million (36.75 percent).
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imports during January–June 2022 were South Korea US$155.04 million (19.59), the United States US$113.43 million (14.33 percent), and China US$95.82 million (12, 11 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$61.00 million (7.71 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$164.46 billion (20.78 percent).
  • By category of use of goods, the value of imports from January to June 2022 against the same period the previous year saw an increase in raw/auxiliary materials by US$903.86 million (87.50 percent), while capital goods decreased by US$68.20 million (18.24 percent) and consumer goods decreased by US$0.77 million (9.11 percent).
  • Kalimantan Timur's trade balance in June 2022 experienced a surplus of US$3.11 billion, mainly from the non-oil and gas sector, which had a surplus of US$3.21 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, the deficit was US$103.11 million.
