Abstract

  • The number of the workforce in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2021 was 1,846.55 thousand people, a decrease of 39.81 thousand people compared to February 2021. In line with the decrease in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also decreased by 1.97 percentage points.
  • The open unemployment rate (TPT) in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2021 was 6.83 percent, down 0.04 percentage point compared to the period in August 2020, but increased by 0.02 percentage point when compared to February 2021.
  • The working population in Kalimantan Timur Province is 1,720.36 thousand people, a decrease of 37.54 thousand people from February 2021. The jobs that experienced the largest percentage increase were the Government Administration, Defense, and Mandatory Social Security Sector (1.71 percentage points). Meanwhile, the sector that experienced the biggest decline was the Transportation and Warehousing Sector (0.83 percentage point).
  • A total of 920.52 thousand people (53.51 percent) worked in formal activities, an increase of 1.27 percentage points compared to February 2021. The percentage of underemployed workers decreased by 1.49 percentage points, while the percentage of part-time workers decreased by 1.52 percentage points. compared to February 2021.
  • There are 301.19 thousand people (10.68 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consists of unemployment due to COVID-19 (27.08 thousand people), Non-Work Force (BAK) due to COVID-19 (9.85 thousand people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (20.09 thousand people), and residents working who experienced a reduction in working hours due to COVID-19 (244.18 thousand people).
