Abstract

  • In October 2021, of the 90 municipalities monitored by the national CPI, 68 municipalities experienced inflation and 22 other municipalities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sampit at 2.06 percent and the lowest at 0.02 percent occurred in Sumenep and Banyuwangi. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Kendari at -0.70 percent and the lowest at -0.02 percent occurred in Bengkulu.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda municipality and Balikpapan municipality Combined) in October 2021 saw inflation of 0.04 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 1.28 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.91 percent.
  • In October 2021, there was inflation for Samarinda municipality of 0.03 percent and in Balikpapan municipality there was inflation of 0.05 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in several index of expenditure groups, namely: clothing and footwear group by 0.66 percent; followed by housing, water, electricity and household fuel by 0.34 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.22 percent; personal care and other services group by 0.17 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.09 percent each; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.02 percent; and the health group by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that showed a decline were the food, beverage, and tobacco groups by -0.30 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by -0.18 percent; and transportation group by -0.12 percent. The education group tends to be stable compared to the previous month.
