Abstract

  • In September 2020, of the 90 cities that monitored the national CPI, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gunung Sitoli with 1.00 percent and the lowest occurred in Pekanbaru and Pontianak with 0.01 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Timika at -0.83 percent and the lowest at -0.01 percent occurred in Bukittinggi, Jember and Singkawang.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Kota Samarinda and Kota Balikpapan) in September 2020 experienced deflation of -0.40 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.34 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.61 percent.
  • In September 2020 there was deflation for Samarinda City of -0.34 percent and in Balikpapan City of -0.46 percent.
  • Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by the decline in several indexes for the expenditure group, namely: the clothing and footwear group by -1.46 percent; the food, beverage, and tobacco group by -1.26 percent; followed by the transportation group by -0.22 percent; the equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by -0.17 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group by -0.07 percent. Meanwhile, several groups showed an increase in the index, namely the personal care and other services group by 0.49 percent; the education group of 0.26 percent; the information, communication and financial services group by 0.16 percent and the health group by 0.09 percent. The housing, water, electricity and household fuel group and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group showed stable indices compared to the previous month.
