Abstract

  • In July 2020 out of 90 national CPI monitoring cities, 29 cities experienced inflation and 61 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Timika at 1.45 percent and the lowest occurred in Jember and Banyuwangi each at 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari by -1.09 percent and the lowest by -0.01 percent occurred in Gunung Sitoli, Bogor, Bekasi, Luwuk and Bulukumba.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda City and Balikpapan City) in July 2020 experienced an inflation of 0.07 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.92 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.80 percent.
  • In July 2020 inflation occurred in Samarinda City by 0.36 and deflation in Balikpapan City was -0.30 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the health group by 0.38 percent; information, communication and financial services by 0.36 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0,28 percent; transportation group by 0.22 percent; the personal care and other services group of 0.21 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.11 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.10 percent and the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.07 percent. While the other 3 groups experienced a decrease in index, namely the clothing and footwear group by -1.16 percent, followed by the education group by -0.66 percent and the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group by -0.02 percent.
